Race Weekends (including Race Training)

Our race weekends are a great way to extend your sailing skills! You can learn how to become an effective crew member on a racing yacht, experience the excitement of yacht racing, or just enjoy a great escape from the normal toil.

You don’t need much sailing experience and even complete novices can get involved and enjoy the thrill. The sessions start at 0900 at Chatham Marina, and after an intensive day of race training we will return to the marina for a debrief. On Sunday we measure ourselves against the competition in a real club race of about 3 hours. The yacht could be Javelin – an Impala 28 – which has been very successful on the Medway racing scene, a race-prepared Jeanneau 35 or perhaps a Bavaria 46. The maximum crew are 5 for the Impala, 6 for the Jeanneau’s, and 8 for the Bavaria. The instructor will be an experienced racing skipper with the skill, patience and humour to make the most of your weekend.

POA for one race weekend. We also offer special deals for a whole crew and for individuals who book a series of weekends, with a sliding scale of discounts available (see below).

Package includes:

  • A full day of race training
  • Race insurance
  • Race entry fees
  • A berth on the yacht on Saturday night (Friday night too by prior arrangement)
  • Sandwich lunch on Saturday

Wet weather gear hire is available at £10 per person.

Match Racing Weekends

If you have a group (8 to 12 people) we can arrange a day or a weekend of match racing. Two identical race-prepared Jeanneau 35s compete ‘around the cans’ on the Medway near Chatham. Just sign up and join us for a day or a weekend of fun racing with a competitive edge – and tuition too.
