Course outline
Sail Training Weekends are ideal for beginners to experience sailing a cruising yacht and complete the RYA ‘Start Yachting’ Course – the first step on the RYA Sail Training pathway. These weekends can also be used to complete RYA Competent Crew or Day Skipper practical courses and they are suitable to refresh or extend sailing skills or have coaching and an assessment for the International Certificate of Competence. Weekends start and finish at Chatham Marina on the River Medway in Kent – less than 1 hour from Central London. RYA training courses and most non-RYA training courses run with an instructor and up to a maximum of 5 students aboard Jeanneau 35 and Jeanneau 389 yachts.
Course Timing:
Residential Courses: Start Friday 2000 / 0900 Saturday and finishes Sunday 1600.
Currently the standard format for weekend training dates is residential with crews staying aboard for the Friday night and the yacht usually remaining away from base until the Sunday. Meals are provided from breakfast on the Saturday to lunch on the Sunday.
NB To make best use of tide and weather conditions we may suggest variations to these timings. You will be consulted prior to any decisions.
