Options to Obtain an ICC valid for Sailing Vessels with Auxiliary engine:

  • Complete training up to RYA Day Skipper (Sail) Practical level or above. (Valid for sailing vessels up to 24 metres length and power vessels up to 10 metres length). Then complete an ICC application form referring to your Day Skipper Certificate as evidence of competence.
  • Complete the RYA Competent Crew course and the RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship course followed by attending an ICC test centre for a direct assessment of your knowledge and competence in coastal navigation, seamanship and boat handling under power and sail as appropriate. The assessment content is specified on the applicatioin form available for download from the RYA website. Elite Sailing is a recognised ICC test centre.

Options for arranging the assessment are:

    • Attend a scheduled 2-day sailing weekend and receive some coaching and assessment. Your ICC would be valid for sailing vessels up to 24 metres and power vessels up to 10 metres.
    • Arrange a private session with one of our instructors on one of our vessels. Your ICC would be valid for sailing vessels up to 24 metres and power vessels up to 10 metres length. The minimum duration would be one day for up to 2 people or 2 days for up to 4 people. Call us with details of your requirement, number of people and experience levels.
    • Arrange for one of our instructors to do the assessment on your own boat. Normal own boat tuition rates apply. Call us with details of your vessel, location, your experience etc.
